Stasis Dermatitis
About Stasis Dermatitis
Stasis dermatitis is a skin condition that develops when circulation in the lower legs is reduced and fluid builds up in the surrounding tissue. This can lead to swelling, itching, dryness, inflammation, skin discoloration, and discomfort around the ankles or lower legs.
Symptoms may gradually worsen over time, especially when underlying circulation problems are not addressed. Some patients may notice reddish-brown discoloration, scaling, tenderness, or skin that becomes more fragile and prone to irritation.
Because stasis dermatitis may occur alongside vein or circulation concerns, proper evaluation is important. Our team can assess the skin symptoms, recommend supportive dermatologic treatment, and help determine when additional vascular evaluation may be appropriate.
